Peace and Patience

Our pastor (Jean Larroux) has been teaching on "The Fruit of the Spirit" for the past few weeks. It has been so great to hear his wisdom and insight on Love, Joy and now Peace and Patience. In summary I have learned that the fruit produced by the Spirit is not generated by the hard work of keeping the law but by the harder work of believing the Gospel! I am not a naturally peaceful or patient person, but you know what, neither is anyone else! Our hearts do not naturally produce peace or patience because our hearts naturally love ourselves more than others. This is why we must always rely on Jesus alone to produce peace and patience in our hearts and love others with the peace and patience that none of us deserves! This is what I learned this week and here is what I painted this week. ( At least the ones I am willing to show you! ) The others need a little bit of PATIENCE on my part!

The Good Shepherd

20 x 16
The Good Shepherd
Acrylic on Canvas

I started this painting while I was on Carole's painting retreat and finished it once I got home. I had been saving the photo and we had a free paint night so I started it. This painting reminded me of the verse in John 10:11 that says " I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." Even if that only sheep had been you or me, Christ would have died just for us. That is so humbling. I hope you like it. If you are interested in this painting please e-mail me. Thanks!

Another Nest

Lover of Soft Winged Things - Sold
10x10 oil on canvas

Yes it is another nest and I am sure there will be more to come. I love nests, eggs and birds so naturally I like to paint them too. I love the speckled eggs particularly and they were really fun to paint. I like to think of the nest as our home here on earth and the eggs as us in our human form, waiting for God to make us into who He created us to be in our heavenly bodies. Kind of like "The Now and the Not Yet". I hope you enjoy this.

New Bird Painting

"Set Free" - $40
8x16 oil on canvas

I just finished this painting and it was inspired by one of my favorite Christian music artists, Derek Webb. I absolutely love his CD entitled "She must and shall go free" and I listen to it over and over again. I love the symbolism of being set free from all the "junk" that keeps us from living the way Christ intends for us to live. Christ has given us freedom from sin, guilt, shame and fear but so often we forget that and live as if we are still bound by those things. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed painting it!
