I tried so hard to get this one done in one day but it didn't happen. I had to put the finishing touches on this morning, so this is a 2 day painting. I went back to what I know, hydrangeas. While I still have a lot to learn about painting them they are my favorite.

Painting Like A Crazy Woman

I have been painting like a crazy woman! When school started back and I did not have to be there I decided to paint as if it were my job, and wow it has really made a difference! First of all I have run out of places to put paintings, but I can see my painting growing as I learn something new every day! I am loving it! I ordered a palette garage and if you paint with oil and haven't seen one, you really should check it out. I use it to store my paints in the freezer but I can put the little strip right back on my palette and it takes up so little room in the freezer. I love it! I also signed up for Leslie Saeta's 30 paintings in 30 days but I forgot to post the first 2 days even though I painted....ugh. Hopefully I will do that today.

Brentwood Fine Art Show

I recently received my invitation to participate in the Brentwood Fine Art Show and Sale so most of my paintings between now and then will be in preparation for that. The show will be December 6-8 in Nashville, TN. I am so excited about this show and will be sharing what I paint with you!

The Fruits of Spring

People tell me you can look at my artwork and see what is going on in my life and I suppose that is true! When the flowers start blooming I paint them and when I travel I paint the places that I have been. I recently took a trip to Mooresville, Alabama with some friends and we visited 1818 Farms there. What a lovely place and fabulous people. I am sure I will be painting more from our adventures there.

The chickens there were some of my favorites, along with the goats and sheep ( coming soon).

I suppose you can guess what is blooming in my yard!!! Yes it is my Annabelle hydrangeas that I absolutely love, so I have been cutting and painting. I have also gone back to painting in oil for the time being. I like to go back and forth and I am definitely in an oil paint kind of mood and loving it! Hope you enjoy the paintings!!!

I know I don't post to my blog often enough but I am on Spring Break now so I finally got a chance to do some of the things that get pushed to the side in everyday life! It is gorgeous here and everything is green and the sun is shining which makes me want to paint flowers!!! I spent the better part of the day yesterday searching for hydrangeas for my still life set up! I have several hydrangea bushes in my yard but they are not blooming yet. 

Last weekend I was fortunate enough to be able to go to the lake for a party for my niece who is getting married in May. The tulips were arranged on the table and I was frequently caught repositioning them so I could take photos of them. They were just so beautiful I couldn't help myself.  I hope you enjoy my springtime flowers, I certainly enjoyed painting them!

It has been a long time since I have posted and I apologize for that but I have been really busy painting and have not made time to sit down at the computer! Isn't that terrible! I think I was just so glad to be out of school and not tied to a computer that I took a vacation from it. But I have been to two wonderful workshops and will be telling you about both of them. The first was "Painting in the Garden" with Kim Barrick and Diane May in Nashville. We painted en plein air for three full days and had such a great time! Kim and Diane are great teachers and I learned so much from both of them. We painted for the first two days in Diane's backyard which is absolutely beautiful and filled with poppies, hydrangeas, a koi pond and many other magnificent things. My painting of the poppies was not worthy of posting but I do have poppy seeds to plant now so maybe I will improve! The third day we painted in Kim's garden and that is where I painted the daylillies. I will definitely paint with these girls again when they offer another workshop, they were absolutely delightful and great fun as well as being fabulous painters!
