Daisy

Daisy
Oil on gallery wrapped canvas
20"x 20"

This is a sweet cow I met on a trip. I stopped to take her photo and she just kept posing for all my pictures! This just endeared her to me all the more. It was a really cold morning and there was ice on the trees and I could see her breath but she just stood like we were having a photo shoot! I hope you enjoy this piece!

30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge

Nest for One
6x6
Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas

Leslie Byrd Saeta is starting another 30 day challenge to artists where you paint one painting each day and post the photo on her blog. This is a great way for artists to push themselves and get in the studio every day. This is such a great way to gain new skills and be encouraged by all the other artists. I hope you will check in starting January 1st to see all the art I will be producing. I am going to try to paint small so that I don't fall behind! This is a huge commitment but hopefully, one that I will stick to. Thanks for visiting!

The Art Show at BA

The Art Show at BA

I had such a great experience at The Art Show at BA! The weather was a little sketchy but that did not stop people from coming out to support the artists and the school! It was fun to meet all the artists and learn the tricks of the trade. The staff and parents at the show were incredibly helpful and treated us like queens! Thank you to everyone who came to the show and I look forward to going back next year!

Painting Like A Crazy Woman

I have been painting like a crazy woman! When school started back and I did not have to be there I decided to paint as if it were my job, and wow it has really made a difference! First of all I have run out of places to put paintings, but I can see my painting growing as I learn something new every day! I am loving it! I ordered a palette garage and if you paint with oil and haven't seen one, you really should check it out. I use it to store my paints in the freezer but I can put the little strip right back on my palette and it takes up so little room in the freezer. I love it! I also signed up for Leslie Saeta's 30 paintings in 30 days but I forgot to post the first 2 days even though I painted....ugh. Hopefully I will do that today.
Hope you enjoy what I have to share today!

I recently received my invitation to participate in the Brentwood Fine Art Show and Sale so most of my paintings between now and then will be in preparation for that. The show will be December 6-8 in Nashville, TN. I am so excited about this show and will be sharing what I paint with you!

A Time for Sorrow and Loss

 In Memory of Brodie

The last few weeks have been really rough. My sister and I both lost one of our special family members within just a couple of days of one another. Brodie and Oliver were both very big personalities in our homes and adjusting to life without them has been really difficult. Every time the door bell rings and no one barks or dinner time comes and there is an empty bowl, it brings tears to our eyes. So, needless to say it has been very therapeutic to paint portraits of these two sweet ones. We remember these sweet babies and their quirky personalities and their loyalty, devotion and loving spirits. Thank you for loving us so well!

Driving to Nashville

As some of you may know, my  best friend and her family were living with us until they found a home in Nashville. They moved into their new home 3 weeks ago and it has been exciting for them, but it has also been hard to not have them here everyday! SOOOOOO I have already been to visit them twice and the drive to and from Nashville is gorgeous! I spent an hour driving around farmland on my return trip last week. I took lots of pictures and have been planning out many paintings. I love farms anyway and tend to paint lots of farm type scenes so this has been so perfect! Here are a couple of landscapes for you to enjoy!

When Life gives you Oranges

I have never really painted oranges before but I love my blue dinner plates and wanted to set up a still life with the plate in it.  So we had these oranges.... the kids kept trying to take the oranges off of the plate and eat them, it was complicated. However, I loved the contrast I got with the orange and blue, so another one of my favorite items in my kitchen is the turquoise antique kitchen scale so I pulled that out too. Had so much fun! Hope you like them!

The Fruits of Spring

People tell me you can look at my artwork and see what is going on in my life and I suppose that is true! When the flowers start blooming I paint them and when I travel I paint the places that I have been. I recently took a trip to Mooresville, Alabama with some friends and we visited 1818 Farms there. What a lovely place and fabulous people. I am sure I will be painting more from our adventures there.
The chickens there were some of my favorites, along with the goats and sheep ( coming soon).
